Connemara Stallions (2002)
No. 9 in the Celtic Mandala Series

This original knotwork design painting shows three knotwork Connemara Stallions intertwined with other knotwork. The drawing for the horse is based on a Connemara Stallion owned by a friend of Elantu's. This animal, named Avalon always greets her by kicking his heels together and neighing. Enclosed within small knotwork windows are representations of the horse drawings from Lascaux in France. This ties the modern horse back to the man's early encounters with the horse. The design also includes hand prints similar to those found in the Lascaux caves. There are also spirals and dots around the outside of the design. This is the ninth mandala in the Celtic Mandala Series.
