This painting portrays a spiritual passage through time. The raven is the guide and the sun dagger (Chaco Canyon) represents the cosmic cycles. The hand is the signature mark of the traveler. Elantu was lucky enough to have friends working at Chaco Canyon who took her to see the sun dagger before the site was closed to the public. In keeping with ancient tradition that goes back to the earliest petrographs, the hand print is a tracing of Elantu's own hand. This is the first painting in the Surrealism Series.
